US Ambassador Eric Garcetti met with Mukesh Ambani, Chairman, and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, in Mumbai. They discussed Reliance’s innovations in renewable energy and explored opportunities for increased economic cooperation between the US and India. Garcetti expressed his excitement about learning about Reliance’s renewable energy advancements in a tweet.
During his visit, Garcetti also toured the newly unveiled Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center (NMACC) in Mumbai. He met the cast of the Broadway play “The Sound of Music” and shared his experience on Twitter, mentioning the center’s various exhibits, including India’s textile heritage and a reproduction of designer Naeem Khan’s ensemble for former US First Lady Michelle Obama.
Additionally, Ambassador Garcetti met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to discuss shared priorities related to business, climate action, and women’s workplace inclusion.
In a separate event, Garcetti visited the residence of Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan, where they engaged in a conversation about the film industry in Mumbai and the significant cultural influence of both Hollywood and Bollywood worldwide.
