Amid severe cold waves in the national capital , the Delhi government has advised all the private schools to get shut till January 15 .
Recently, the national capital has been witnessing severe cold waves along with a lot of fog. This is after so many years that the state has seen such severity of the cold weather . On the Sunday morning, the temperature even dropped to 1.9 degree Celsius , it reached to 5 degrees below the normal temperature . The Delhi government’s Directorate of Education stated in a circular that the winter vacation to be adjusted by 15 January.
Delhi’s situation
A dense layer of fog has been casted in the northwest of India and it adjoining and central parts . Safardajung , on Saturday , witnessed a minimum temperature of 2.2 degrees Celsius . It was lower than the temperature of the places in Himachal Pradesh and that of Uttarakhand . Some more hill station’s temperature gave competition to that of Delhi’s.
What is a severe cold wave?
When the temperature of a place is below 10 degree Celsius , the day can be referred to as a cold day. If the temperature drops to approximate of 6.5 degrees less than a normal temperature . When the temperature of a place drops to 2 degree Celsius , then the place is said to be facing the situation of a severe Coldwave.
