Congress leader Digvijay Singh’s remarks on Saturday ignited a war of words with the BJP. He accused the saffron party of “spying” for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Singh’s comments came ahead of the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh later this year. He stated that if the Congress comes to power, men from both the BJP and Bajrang Dal will be jailed. Singh claimed that all corruption cases would be reopened and responsibility would be assigned. He further declared that those who spied for the ISI would face treason charges and imprisonment.

In response, BJP secretary Rajneesh Agrawal hit back, stating that Singh should not attempt to intimidate people. Agrawal emphasized that the law would follow its course. He accused the Congress of engaging in appeasement politics and targeting individuals based on ideology. Agrawal asserted that such tactics would not succeed as people were aware of them.

Singh also took a swipe at PM Modi regarding the upcoming inauguration of the new Parliament building. Singh criticized the BJP for taking credit for a tribal woman becoming the country’s president but not allowing President Droupadi Murmu to inaugurate the building. He claimed that Modi wanted to showcase his face everywhere and questioned why the President could inaugurate a High Court building in Jharkhand but not the Parliament building while residing in Delhi itself.

Singh additionally alleged that MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had failed to fulfill his promise of doubling farmers’ income by 2022. He stated that it would be impossible to find a single farmer whose income had doubled, implying that only Chouhan’s income had increased.
