Royal Challengers Bangalore’s ace bowler, Mohammed Siraj, has revealed the secrets behind his stellar performance in the IPL 2023 season. The 29-year-old holds the purple cap with 12 wickets from just six games.
Siraj shared his change in mindset from last season to this season with Dinesh Karthik in an IPL official video. He said, “My last IPL did not go well. I was thinking now I am part of the Indian team. The things I wanted to execute I was not able to execute. I also wanted to play all three formats.” He then realized that if he had to get selected for the World Cup, it would happen anyway. So, he decided to focus on executing his skills and concentrating on his bowling rhythm, which helped him perform well and achieve success.
During the interview, Siraj also spoke about his practice routine during the IPL. He revealed that the first thing he does when he comes to the ground is to do his routines and warm-ups properly. He concentrates on his bowling rhythm and whether the ball is coming out of his hand nicely or not. After that, he gradually builds up his rhythm.
When asked about wearing the purple cap, Siraj said, “I feel very good about it. In my first year, when I was playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad and in the final, Bhuvi Bhai won the purple cap. At that time, I went to receive the cap on his behalf. That day I realized I too one day want to wear the purple cap.”
Siraj also prioritizes maintaining his fitness during the IPL. He said, “Because now there is little time between the games. I practice less and work on fitness more. I am coming after playing a lot of games. My rhythm is also good, and I am building my strength in the gym. My dietician is also helping me a lot. It is helping me a lot, and I want to continue like this moving forward.” With Siraj’s impressive performance, the Royal Challengers Bangalore is looking forward to a successful season.
