Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has announced that Linda Yaccarino, the advertising head at NBCUniversal, will be the new CEO of Twitter. Musk revealed in a tweet that Yaccarino will primarily focus on business operations while he focuses on product design and new technology. He also stated that he will now take over the role of Twitter’s executive chair and CTO, overseeing product, software, and system operations.
Yaccarino has had a remarkable tenure of more than a decade at NBCUniversal and has been a prominent proponent of identifying enhanced techniques for gauging the efficacy of advertising. She was instrumental in the success of Peacock, the company’s streaming service that is supported by ads, as a leader in NBCU’s advertising sales division.
Yaccarino has spent 19 years at Turner Entertainment, where she modernized the network’s advertising sales operations to align with the digital landscape. She obtained her education at Penn State University, majoring in liberal arts and telecommunications.
According to a Business Insider report, Yaccarino has consistently been an advocate of Musk and has voiced her belief that he deserves adequate time to rectify any issues at the microblogging platform. It’s noteworthy that she reportedly confided in her friends that she wanted to become the CEO of Twitter.
Recently, Yaccarino interviewed Elon Musk during an advertising conference in Miami. At the event, she praised Musk’s dedication and work ethic and encouraged the audience to greet him with applause.
