The Election Commission of India (ECI) has advised star campaigners to uphold the decorum of political discourse, stating that the use of derogatory language has resulted in complaints, counter-complaints, and negative media coverage. This comes in the wake of a show-cause notice issued to Priyank Kharge, the son of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, for referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “nalayak” (inept) during a recent election rally in Karnataka.
