Army To Deploy More Troops From Assam And Nagaland To Quell Violence In Manipur

The Indian Army has stated that the situation in Moreh and Kangpokpi, Manipur, has been brought under control, and efforts are underway to restore normalcy in Imphal and Churachandpur.

The army is bringing in more troops from Assam and Nagaland to aid in restoring peace. State Governor Anusuiya Uikey has called for people to maintain peace and order according to their traditions.

In response to widespread violence, the state government has ordered internet service providers, including Reliance Jio Fiber, Airtel Xtreme, and BSNL, to bar broadband and data services in the state for five days.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has urged Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah to restore peace in Manipur. The Manipur Congress has also called for the intervention of the Government of India to bring normalcy to the state.

The Manipur government has issued a shoot-at-sight order for extreme cases. The Indian Air Force is set to undertake flying operations to induct additional Indian Army columns from Guwahati and Tezpur to aid in restoring peace.
