A video that shows a man flying on a kite string hundreds of feet off the ground has gone viral on Twitter. The incident reportedly occurred in Tangshan, a city in northern China, but the date of the incident is unknown.
The undated video was shared on Twitter by the New York Post (@nypost) on Sunday. In the video, the man can be seen cheering while he is up in the air, before landing back on the ground and attempting to fly again.
The person who recorded the video, Tao, who owns a kite shop, claims that his friend intentionally flew alongside the kites, using a kite string made of professional Kevlar and safety harnesses. He stated that only professionals dare to play like this and that taking a flight on a Kevlar kite string is not dangerous.
The incident has drawn comparisons to a similar video from Sri Lanka in December 2021, in which a man was swept into the air by a runaway kite while attempting to fly a large kite that was tied to jute ropes. The man landed safely and sustained only minor injuries.
Despite the reassurances from Tao that the activity is safe, it is important to note that flying on a kite string is extremely dangerous and should only be attempted by trained professionals with appropriate safety measures in place. It is also essential to follow all safety guidelines and precautions when flying kites, including avoiding flying near power lines or in stormy weather.
