Heavy rainfall has caused waterlogging in several parts of Gondal City in Rajkot, Gujarat, creating difficulties for commuters. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light isolated rainfall is expected to continue in Gujarat over the next five days. The IMD has also forecasted thunderstorms and drizzles in parts of Ahmedabad on Saturday. A video shared by news agency ANI showed a man pushing his bike through a waterlogged underpass, while other clips showed inundated areas in the city due to heavy rainfall.

The IMD’s monthly forecast for Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi, and parts of western Uttar Pradesh and western Madhya Pradesh predicts cooler weather than normal in May due to rains. On Friday, the maximum temperature in Ahmedabad settled at 38.9 degrees Celsius, which was 2.4 degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 26 degrees Celsius. The weather in Ahmedabad is expected to remain partly cloudy with thundery developments towards evening/night, with the maximum temperature expected to hover around 39°C.

In Delhi, the minimum temperature settled at 22.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, according to the IMD. A generally cloudy sky with very light rain and thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds is forecasted for the city on Saturday. Meanwhile, in Madhya Pradesh, untimely rains coupled with thunderstorms and gusty winds hit parts of the state on Friday. IMD has predicted harsh weather with scattered showers for the next four days in the state.

An orange alert warning of thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and gusty winds ranging between 40 to 50 km per hour (KMPH) was also issued at isolated places in east Madhya Pradesh on Friday. Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 KMPH at isolated places in the western part of the state.
