The Communist Party of India (Marxist), commonly known as the CPI(M), has called for the intervention of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to halt the eviction of families from a village in Gomati district. The party has also demanded a thorough investigation into the indiscriminate demolition of houses in Raiyabari under the Killa block and compensation for the affected families.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Jitendra Chowdhury, the CPI(M) party’s Tripura state secretary, alleged that on May 25, the Gomati district and police administration carried out the demolition of houses and structures belonging to seven families, along with the destruction of their crops. The eviction drives were conducted with the use of bulldozers and chainsaw machinery, causing immense distress to the affected families.

The CPI(M) has raised concerns over the actions of the district and police administration, deeming them as arbitrary and unjust. The party believes that the eviction drives and demolition of houses without proper investigation or due process infringe upon the rights of the affected families. Such actions not only displace people from their homes but also destroy their livelihoods, as their crops are obliterated in the process.

The party’s call for Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s intervention seeks to address this issue and bring justice to the affected families. By urging the Chief Minister to intervene, the CPI(M) hopes to halt the ongoing eviction process and initiate an impartial investigation into the matter. They also emphasize the need for adequate compensation to be provided to the affected families for the loss of their homes and crops.

Evictions and demolitions often lead to significant social and economic upheaval for the affected families. Displaced individuals and communities often struggle to rebuild their lives from scratch, facing difficulties in finding suitable alternative housing and sustaining their livelihoods. It is crucial to ensure that such actions are carried out with fairness, transparency, and compassion, taking into account the welfare and rights of the affected individuals.

The CPI(M)’s appeal for intervention reflects their commitment to upholding the rights of marginalized communities and protecting them from unjust displacement. By seeking the Chief Minister’s involvement, they aim to raise awareness about the plight of the affected families and advocate for their rights to be safeguarded.

The Chief Minister’s response to this appeal will be crucial in determining the course of action taken in this matter. It is hoped that the government will consider the CPI(M)’s demands seriously and take prompt measures to address the concerns raised. By doing so, they can demonstrate their commitment to ensuring justice, fairness, and dignity for all citizens, particularly those who are vulnerable and marginalized.

Ultimately, the resolution of this situation lies in striking a balance between development initiatives and the protection of people’s rights. It is essential to find alternatives that accommodate the needs of both the affected families and the larger developmental goals. Through a collaborative and empathetic approach, a solution can be reached that respects the rights of the affected families while allowing for progress and development in the region.
