Unidentified Miscreants Attack Assam Rifles Patrol in Manipur: Jawan Injured

In a disturbing incident on Wednesday morning, unidentified miscreants opened fire at a patrol party of the Assam Rifles in Manipur’s Imphal East district, resulting in the injury of a jawan. The incident occurred during a sweeping operation involving approximately 9,000 troops from the Army and Assam Rifles, who were conducting ground operations with air support.

According to defense sources, the column on area domination was fired upon by armed individuals in the Dolaithabi area at around 11 am. The assailants quickly fled the scene after firing a few rounds, leaving one Assam Rifles personnel wounded from a gunshot. Prompt action was taken, and the injured jawan was immediately evacuated to a military hospital via helicopter for treatment.

The Indian Army has been actively engaged in comprehensive surveillance operations across various regions, including the hinterland and the Indo-Myanmar border. To ensure the safety and security of the local population, a multifaceted approach has been adopted. This approach involves continuous surveillance utilizing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) with specific objectives, the deployment of MI 17 and Cheetah helicopters from the Air Force and Army, as well as numerous foot patrols and flag marches.

A robust response has been implemented, with a total of 128 Army and Assam Rifles columns being deployed alongside unmanned aerial vehicles and other aerial surveillance assets. These units are working round-the-clock to undertake 24×7 surveillance, employing adequate resources to address any potential security threats.

The primary objective of these operations is to restore confidence among the local population and ensure their safety. By employing advanced surveillance technologies, combined with the presence of ground troops, the Indian Army aims to deter any untoward incidents and swiftly respond to any security challenges that may arise.

The incident serves as a reminder of the complex security situation in Manipur and the continuous threats faced by security forces operating in the region. The Indian Army and Assam Rifles remain committed to maintaining peace and stability, and their relentless efforts to secure the area are a testament to their dedication.

The injured jawan, receiving treatment at a military hospital, is being provided with the best medical care available.
