In a tragic incident on the Samruddhi Expressway in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district, a private travel bus from Nagpur to Pune caught fire after hitting a pole and ramming into a divider, resulting in the loss of lives and injuries to several passengers. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, expressed his condolences and announced assistance of ₹5 lakh to the families of the deceased. He also directed officials to ensure immediate medical help for the injured victims, with the government bearing the expenses.

According to reports from the news agency PTI, the bus accident occurred around 1:30 am, involving a bus carrying 33 passengers, most of whom hailed from Nagpur, Wardha, and Yavatmal. The driver stated that the accident happened due to a tire burst, which resulted in flames engulfing the bus. Subsequently, the diesel tank of the vehicle caught fire. Among the victims, there were three children and the rest were adults. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined, as stated by Buldhana Superintendent of Police, Sunil Kadasane, to news agency ANI.

The devastating bus mishap drew the attention and condolences of prominent national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Prime Minister Modi expressed deep sorrow over the incident and announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the families of the deceased. Additionally, ₹50,000 was allocated for those injured in the accident.

The Prime Minister’s Office shared his sentiments in a tweet, expressing heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the tragic event. They extended prayers for the recovery of the injured and acknowledged the local administration’s efforts in providing assistance to those affected by the accident.

Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed his grief over the incident, stating that the road accident in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district was heartbreaking. He conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims and assured quick treatment and support from the administration for the injured. He concluded his message with a prayer for their speedy recovery.

The bus accident in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district has not only caused immense sorrow among the affected families but also sparked a collective sense of mourning and support from leaders across the nation. As the investigation continues to determine the exact cause of the accident, it remains a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for measures to prevent such tragedies.

The assistance provided by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Prime Minister Narendra Modi demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing relief and support to the affected families. The financial aid offered will undoubtedly help ease the burden faced by the families of the deceased. Similarly, the directive to provide immediate medical help at the government’s expense reflects a proactive approach in ensuring the well-being and recovery of the injured victims.

As the nation mourns the loss of lives in this horrific accident, the focus remains on extending support, both emotional and practical, to the affected families. The local administration, alongside government agencies, will continue to provide assistance and medical treatment to those in need. It is hoped that such efforts will help alleviate the suffering of the affected families and aid in their recovery from this tragic incident.
