The director of the Kashmir Files , Vivek Agnihotri had earlier announced on the twitter that it has been “shortlisted” for Oscars 2023, in “the first list of the academy”. He also mentioned that it was the one out of five movies that had been named on the list. The co-stars of the film had also mentioned that the film had been shortlisted for the Oscars 2023.

Kashmir files was a quite controversial movie that was talked about and had faced quite a lot of problems.

After that ,Times Now tweeted an interview of Anupam Kher after the shortlisting of Kashmir Files’.

.In the interview he was seen saying that “shortlisting” does not mean that the company had been nominated. Shortlisting is one in itself a really big thing . It is a topic to be celebrated.

“It was in itself a victory even with the “shortlisting” of the firm”, further stated Anupam. The main thing to notice is that the list released by the “Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science” does not contain any such words as “Shortlist” .The list was almost 44 pages long with no mention of the ” shortlist”.

There were ten categories that were that had been announced for the 95th Oscars shortlists.

Actual Position Of The Movie

Kashmir files was not found in any of the shortlists for the 10 categories. Also there are no shortlist for the best actor and actresses.

Reminder lists are the lists that have entered for the general category . Shortlists are the lists of films that have gone to next rounds after qualifying the prior round.

The tweets by Vivek Agnihotri , Anupam Kher( the co stars) and others, and the media reports stating that the Kashmir files are shortlisted for the Oscars 2023 are false .

Hence the claims made by the film crew by the members of the movie have been “shortlisted” are false as well.
