Shilp Samagam Mela ‘2024, a unique initiative by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, concluded today with the spectacular Tulip Rang Paridhan showcasing magnificent art, culture, tradition and heritage of the country.

The handicrafts made by artisans have been on display at Dilli Haat from 5th-15th Nov ‘24. Held at the bustling locale of Dilli Haat, the event celebrated the incredible craftsmanship of artisans supported by Tulip, a project that empowers artisans from marginalized communities, including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Safai Karmacharis, Persons with Disabilities, NTs, SNTs, DNTs, and Minorities.

Throughout the Shilp Samagam Mela ‘2024, visitors had the opportunity to explore a diverse array of traditional crafts, textiles, and handmade products from artisans across India.

The mela served as a platform for artisans to gain direct exposure, interact with potential buyers, and share the rich heritage behind each creation.

Tulip Rang Paridhan, the closing highlight of the mela, showcased a vibrant collection of handcrafted costumes, each piece echoing the dedication and skill of artisans supported by the Tulip project. These collections will soon reach a broader audience, as Tulip’s direct-to-consumer (D2C) model will make these unique products available on major e-commerce platforms, including Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Blinkit, and ONDC. This approach allows consumers to directly support artisans while preserving traditional crafts and ensuring fair trade practices.

Through its D2C strategy and initiatives like the Shilp Samagam, Tulip aims to bridge the gap between rural artisans and modern consumers, both domestically and internationally, fostering sustainable livelihoods and recognizing the immense value of India’s traditional arts and crafts.

As Shilp Samagam ‘24 comes to an end, it leaves behind a legacy of empowerment and appreciation for the artisan community, reaffirming Tulip’s commitment to “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and “Vocal for Local” by supporting the economic and cultural advancement of our skilled artisans and improving their access to both domestic and global market.

Key Highlights of the Tulip Platform:

– Centralised Procurement: Ensures quality control and consistency in supply through a central warehouse system.

– E-commerce Integration: Partnerships with Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Blinkit, ONDC, and other major platforms for seamless domestic sales.

– Global Market Reach: Plans to expand Indian craftsmanship to international B2C platforms, promoting local products abroad.

– Inclusive Marketing: Special focus on products made by marginalised communities to ensure fair recognition and equitable growth for artisans.

This initiative signifies a new era for India’s traditional crafts sector, blending modern commerce with cultural preservation, and laying the foundation for the artisans’ sustainable future. Through Tulip, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is committed to uplifting artisans, promoting Indian heritage, and creating a path towards social and economic inclusion.
