President Droupadi Murmu commenced her three-day visit to Jharkhand by paying her respects at the Baba Baidyanath temple in the Deoghar district. Assisted by a team of priests, she performed special prayers for the 12 ‘jyotirlingas’ amid tight security. The President conducted a special puja in the temple while Vedic mantras were chanted by the priests. She prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the country and was felicitated by the Temple Shrine Board.

President Murmu, the fourth President to visit the Baba Baidyanath temple during her tenure, was received by Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan, Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, MP Nishikant Dubey, and others at the Deoghar airport. This is her second visit to the state since assuming office, having previously served as the governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021.

As part of her visit, the President will inaugurate the new complex of the Jharkhand High Court, which spans an expansive area of 165 acres and has been constructed for Rs 550 crore. Later, she will attend the second convocation of IIT Ranchi and participate in a program in Khunti. On May 25, she will grace a Women’s Conference organized by the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs in Khunti.

Additionally, President Murmu will attend a civic reception hosted in her honor by the Government of Jharkhand at Raj Bhavan, Ranchi. During her visit, she also paid homage to Birsa Munda by garlanding his statue at Birsa Chowk and proceeded to Albert Ekka Chowk.
