The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) staged a protest in Jammu, expressing their outrage against selective killings by terrorists in Kashmir. They accused the government of failing to ensure the safety of minority community members. The protest took place outside the PDP headquarters in Gandhi Nagar, following the recent killing of Deepu Kumar, a 27-year-old circus worker from Udhampur district. Terrorists gunned him down in the Janglat Mandi area of Anantnag district.
The PDP leaders strongly condemned Kumar’s killing and demanded immediate action. They called for a compensation of Rs 25 lakh and a government job for Kumar’s poor family. Sukhvinder Singh, the additional general secretary of the PDP, criticized the BJP-controlled administration for its failures and exposed their claims of normalcy in the valley. Singh highlighted the ongoing selective killings in Kashmir, stating that they expose the administration’s incompetence.
Singh accused the administration of prioritizing photo sessions instead of addressing the safety concerns of the people. Another PDP leader, Rajinder Manhas, criticized the higher-ups in the administration for not visiting the grieving family of the deceased. Kumar was laid to rest in his hometown.
The PDP’s protest reflects their deep concerns about the security situation in Kashmir and their dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of the issue. They demand effective measures to ensure the safety of all citizens in the region. The party emphasizes the need for compensation and employment support for Kumar’s family, showing their commitment to addressing the needs of marginalized and vulnerable sections of society.
