OpenAI has already established ties with industry experts, evident from the list of acknowledgments in a blog post announcing ChatGPT last year. The post included mentions of five former Google researchers. The company’s recruitment drive has seen it bring on board about 93 professionals who previously worked at Google and Meta.

OpenAI’s job descriptions for research engineers outline annual salaries ranging from $245,000 to $450,000 (approximately ₹2 crore to ₹3.8 crore). These figures are complemented by additional perks such as equity options and other benefits.

In a podcast, Jan Leike, Head of Super Alignment at OpenAI, emphasized the importance of hiring individuals committed to improving AI safety. The company is particularly interested in candidates with a deep understanding of machine learning, analytical skills, and coding proficiency. Sam Altman, during a visit to India, highlighted OpenAI’s inclusive approach, noting that a Ph.D. is not a strict requirement for potential hires.
