MiG-21 Fighter Aircraft Crash in Rajasthan: Pilot Safe, Civilians Killed – IAF Statement

During a routine training sortie near Suratgarh in Rajasthan, a MiG-21 fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) met with an unfortunate accident. The IAF confirmed the incident and reported that the pilot was able to eject safely, sustaining minor injuries. However, the crash resulted in the loss of civilian lives and injuries on the ground.

On May 8, a MiG-21 fighter aircraft belonging to the Indian Air Force encountered a mishap during a routine training flight near Suratgarh in Rajasthan. The IAF swiftly released a statement acknowledging the crash and confirmed that the pilot had successfully ejected from the aircraft, managing to escape with minor injuries. The prompt action taken by the pilot in utilizing the ejection seat likely played a crucial role in averting a potential tragedy.

Unfortunately, the crash of the MiG-21 resulted in the loss of two innocent lives and injuries to as many individuals on the ground. Police officials, citing PTI (Press Trust of India), confirmed the casualties. The precise circumstances leading to the casualties are yet to be determined, and a comprehensive investigation will likely shed light on the events surrounding the incident.

Following the accident, the IAF promptly launched an investigation into the crash to determine the cause of the mishap. The purpose of such inquiries is to identify any technical or operational failures that may have contributed to the incident.
