New Delhi, May 21, 2023 – The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has launched its Chintan Shivir in Munnar, Kerala. The primary objective of the event is to foster self-reliance in India’s maritime sector. Chaired by Sarbananda Sonowal, the Ports, Shipping & Waterways Minister, the Shivir aims to educate the public about the sector’s impact in a simple and accessible manner.

The conference features sessions dedicated to innovative port ideas, lighthouse tourism, shipbuilding, and insights from diverse organizations. These discussions facilitate informed decision-making and the development of effective implementation strategies.
On the second day of the Chintan Shivir, the focus will be on various crucial aspects, including cargo handling, port procedures optimization, digitalization and standardization, inland waterways and coastal shipping, as well as improving governance in the sector.
This event serves as a platform for key stakeholders to collaborate, share ideas, and collectively work towards positioning India as a prominent global player in the maritime industry.
