IndiGo has announced that it will operate two additional flights from Imphal to Kolkata on May 6, 2023, in response to the ongoing violence in Manipur. The move is aimed at increasing capacity for travelers leaving the state.

In the aftermath of the violence, long queues have been seen in front of petrol pumps in Imphal. However, the situation has reportedly improved due to the presence of security forces.

According to P Doungel, the Director General of Police in Manipur, strict orders have been issued to take action against those who contribute to the violence. He emphasized that no one will be spared and that strict action will be taken against those who are found to be involved.

This comes amidst heightened tensions in Manipur, where violent clashes have been reported in recent days. IndiGo’s decision to operate additional flights is a response to the situation on the ground and is aimed at ensuring that travelers can leave the state safely.

The Indian Army has reported that the situation in Moreh and Kangpokpi has been stabilized and brought under control. Their efforts are now focused on restoring normalcy in Imphal and Churachandpur. As a precautionary measure, additional troops will remain deployed in Manipur, and more columns have been redeployed from Nagaland.

To support the ongoing efforts, the Indian Air Force will be conducting flying operations to transport additional Indian Army columns from Guwahati and Tezpur. This will help in addressing the situation effectively.
