The Himachal Pradesh government has taken a significant step towards promoting green energy by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with HLC Green Energy LLC on Monday. The agreement will focus on the development of a green hydrogen and green ammonia project in the state.
The MoU was signed by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan, Director of Industries Rakesh Kumar Prajapati, and Managing Director of HLC Green Energy LLC Sanjay Sharma.
The chief minister also emphasized that the state has a clear advantage due to its abundant water resources and green hydel energy. He assured HLC Green Energy LLC of full cooperation and support from the state government in setting up the project.
According to the industries minister, the company plans to produce 0.3 million metric tons (MMT) of green hydrogen and 1.5 million metric tons (MMT) of green ammonia annually. The MoU is a significant step towards realizing the chief minister’s vision of making Himachal Pradesh a ‘green energy state’ by 2026, which was announced in his maiden budget.
The HLC Green Energy project is expected to create numerous employment opportunities and help further the state’s goal of promoting sustainable and eco-friendly development. With this initiative, Himachal Pradesh is taking an important step towards a cleaner, greener future.
