India’s Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, is set to visit Telangana today as part of the ‘Parliament Prabhas Yojana’ program. He will be addressing a public rally in Chevella, near Hyderabad.
According to reports, Shah is expected to meet with some members of the ‘RRR’ movie team and felicitate them for winning the Academy Award for Best Original Song for their song ‘Naatu Naatu’. It is to be noted that the ‘Naatu Naatu’ song from the ‘RRR’ movie won the Academy Award in the Best Original Song category at this year’s event.
Amit Shah is known for meeting celebrities during his visits and had met actors Junior NTR and Nithin on earlier occasions. The BJP plans to increase its focus on Telangana and step up its campaign after the Assembly elections in neighboring Karnataka on May 10.
The BJP has been trying to emerge as an alternative to the ruling BRS party in Telangana, and the two parties have engaged in a war of words recently. The BJP has had some success in a couple of Assembly by-polls and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation election in the last three years.
Earlier this week, Amit Shah visited Bengaluru ahead of the Karnataka elections. This was his first visit to the state since the poll schedule was announced on March 29.
