During his visit to the Sabarmati Ashram in Gujarat on Monday, Garcetti expressed his views on strengthening the bond between India and the US.
In his conversation with the media, Garcetti shared plans to open the next batch of student visas in the coming weeks. He mentioned that efforts are being made to streamline the visa issuance process and reduce waiting times, not only for students but also for first-time visitors. Garcetti expressed optimism about surpassing previous numbers and increasing the overall visa numbers for this year.

On May 11, Garcetti, along with envoys from Qatar and Monaco, officially presented their credentials to President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, a ceremonial event marking the beginning of their diplomatic roles. In addition to visiting the Sabarmati Ashram and exploring the historic district of Ahmedabad, Garcetti’s itinerary includes meetings with state officials and attending a T20 cricket match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
