The tomb stones have been vandalized at a cemetery in Mahim. The tomb stones got vandalized at St. Michael’s Church at Mahim in Mumbai.
What happened ?
Over a dozen of the tombstones at St. Michaels Church that were constructed above the graveyard were erected. Further they got vandalized at the cemetery. This damage was done intentionally and this act has outraged the catholic community.
The community claims that the acts for damaging the symbols of Christianity have increased. a trend of damaging these symbols of Christianity can be seen rising every year . This has hurt the sentiments of the Christian community.
Were there any past cases of vandalism like this?
A few years ago in 2013 , the people of West Vile Parle found that the holy cross at LIC Building Compound was vandalized. The doer was unknown.
Further, on 14th July 2014, that same holy cross at LIC (Life incorporation compound) was again vandalized by some people. This time too the doer was not known .
On 2016, 4th September, the holy cross at Juhu Mumbai was found violently treated and a gold theft was also reported a gold theft at Juhu Koliwada mother Mary statue.
moreover on 27th of January 2017 the holy cross at carter road, at West Bandra was also violently damaged.
Further on 27 January 2017, the holy cross was damaged at the Gaothan Lane, Santacruz west , Mumbai 54.
moreover, the holy cross was found broken at Dadar west on 5th march 2018.
