Passengers aboard an IndiGo Airlines flight from Chandigarh to Ahmedabad experienced a frightening incident on Monday night. The aircraft abruptly ascended shortly after making contact with the runway at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The unexpected touchdown-takeoff sequence, which occurred during a routine landing around 9:15 PM, left passengers surprised and perplexed.

Dr. Neel Thakkar, a Vadodara resident and one of the passengers on Flight 6E 6056, described the incident as terrifying. After the plane began descending at approximately 8:45 PM, it suddenly pulled up as soon as its wheels touched the ground, taking off again. Passengers were left in a state of fear and confusion, as no explanation was provided at the time.

The aircraft remained airborne for nearly 20 minutes before eventually landing. Dr. Thakkar expressed concern for the safety of over 100 passengers and took immediate action by reaching out to the airline, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. In an email, he recounted his conversation with pilot Jagdip Singh, who explained that the incident was a result of a routine communication issue and the airline’s lack of Air Traffic Control (ATC) clearance for landing.

Dr. Thakkar raised valid questions regarding how the plane could have landed without ATC permission. He further reported his interaction with the duty manager of IndiGo Airlines, who advised him to file an official complaint via email to initiate a thorough investigation.

The incident has sparked concerns about passenger safety and the need for a comprehensive inquiry into the matter. Authorities are expected to look into the incident and ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future.
