Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed the urgent need for global healthcare collaboration at the 76th Session of the World Health Assembly. He highlighted COVID-19 pandemic-exposed gaps and emphasized resilient global systems and health equity.

India’s commitment to international cooperation was evident as it shipped nearly 300 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to over 100 countries, including the Global South.

Modi expressed confidence in the WHO’s prioritization of equal resource access. He congratulated the WHO on its 75-year service and anticipated ambitious goals for its centenary.

The Prime Minister emphasized holistic well-being and praised traditional systems like Yoga, Ayurveda, and meditation for addressing physical, mental, and social aspects of health. He welcomed the establishment of the WHO’s Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in India.

Modi invoked the principle of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” promoting a unified global family. He advocated for “One Earth, One Health,” extending the vision of good health to the entire ecosystem.

Highlighting India’s healthcare achievements, such as the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme, expanded infrastructure, and sanitation and drinking water initiatives, Modi suggested India’s approach could serve as a framework for other nations.

The Prime Minister expressed eagerness to support the WHO’s efforts in low and middle-income countries. He commended the WHO’s role in advancing health for all and emphasized the importance of global institutions in addressing future challenges.

In conclusion, Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to a healthier world and pledged support to global endeavors.
