Babson College, located in the USA, has made history by electing two Indian students as presidents of the Undergraduate and Graduate Student governments. Khushi Chindaliya, a 20-year-old undergraduate student in Business and Economics, was elected as the president of the undergraduate student government, while Basu Singh, a 26-year-old MBA student, was elected as the president of Babson’s Graduate student government.
This is the first time in the institute’s history that two Indians have been elected as presidents. Chindaliya, who hails from Surat, Gujarat, was welcomed to Babson College on a full scholarship worth Rs 2.5 crore as a “Babson Global Scholar”. Out of 10 students selected globally, Khushi was the only Indian to be awarded this scholarship, which covers all of her costs for four years, including tuition, room and board, books and supplies, health insurance, personal and travel expenses, etc.
Khushi, who graduated from Dexterity School of Leadership and Entrepreneurship at the age of 15, expressed her excitement about being elected as president, stating that she looks forward to working with her colleagues to make meaningful changes that will benefit their fellow students. She added that she never imagined studying at one of the world’s best colleges for entrepreneurship, let alone being elected president.
Singh, who is from Patna, Bihar, is pursuing his MBA from Babson College as a Social Innovation Scholar. He is one of three students globally to have received the prestigious scholarship, which is given to exceptional individuals who are committed to making a positive impact in their communities. As the president of the graduate student government, Singh is eager to work with his colleagues to create a welcoming and inclusive community for all students. He expressed his gratitude and stated that he could have never imagined studying at America’s No. 1 College for Entrepreneurship, let alone being elected president, without the training and support he received at Dexterity for over 9 years.
This achievement by Khushi and Singh is not only a proud moment for them and their families but also for India. Their election as presidents of the Undergraduate and Graduate Student Government at Babson College serves as an inspiration for aspiring Indian students who wish to pursue their dreams and excel in their chosen fields.
