Pune police have detained a 42-year-old man for issuing a death threat to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde. The man, identified as Rajesh Agawane, is a resident of Warje and works as a nurse in Mumbai. He reportedly comes to Pune several times a month to meet his wife.

According to the police, Agawane has a history of abusing people when under the influence of alcohol. On Monday night, he called the police control room number 112, initially asking for an ambulance as he claimed to be suffering from chest pain. The operator directed him to call 108 for an ambulance. However, a short while later, Agawane made another call to 112, during which he issued a death threat against the Chief Minister.

The police acted swiftly and launched a search for the caller. They later found Rajesh in a drunken state in the Warje area and detained him for further investigation. A senior police officer stated that they take all such threats seriously and will not tolerate such behavior.

The incident has raised concerns about the security of public figures and the potential threats they may face. The police have urged the public to refrain from making such threats and to report any suspicious behavior immediately.

The investigation is ongoing, and the police are expected to take strict action against the accused. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has not yet commented on the incident.
