Police in Bihar have made five more arrests in connection with the communal violence that broke out during the Ram Navami festivities in Bihar Sharif town in Nalanda district.

The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of the Bihar Police made the fresh arrests and two other suspects, who were also wanted in connection with other cases, turned themselves in.

e EOU is investigating the possible involvement of the surrendered suspects with a specific outfit. Investigators believe that the accused had created a WhatsApp group to spread hatred against different communities and were instigating people to spread fake video messages.

The police recovered five mobile phones from their possession. The EOU has registered its first FIR against 15 people, including all five of the newly arrested persons, and more arrests are expected. Over 200 people have already been arrested in connection with the communal clashes in Nalanda and Sasaram.

The police arrested five young people for their involvement in communal violence during the Ram Navami celebrations in Bihar Sharif. The police also confiscated five mobile phones from them that was used to upload objectionable content. The names of the arrested youths are Manish Kumar, Tushar Kumar Tanti, Dharmendra Mehta, Bhupendra Singh Rana (also known as Chandan Singh), and Niranjan Pandey.
