Goa Police urges cancellation of licenses for 2 resorts over assault on foreign tourists. The Goa Police have recommended the cancellation of licenses for two resorts in North Goa, citing non-adherence to safety protocols, following the recent incidents of assault on foreign tourists.

One such case involved a 29-year-old Dutch tourist who was allegedly molested and stabbed by a staffer at a resort in Goa. Another involved the assault of a Russian tourist by hotel employees during a robbery attempt.

In both cases, the police found that the resorts did not have adequate safety measures in place, including the absence of CCTV cameras and security personnel.

A police officer stated that the accused employee had not undergone verification. The police have written to the state tourism department to cancel the licenses of the resorts in question.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had previously directed hotels to enroll their staff for a labor card issued by the government and to conduct background checks before hiring.

The Goa Tourism Minister, Rohan Khaunte, has also stated that police verification of workers at hotels and resorts, especially those employing people from outside the state, shall be conducted.
