Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has decided to appeal against his conviction in a defamation case in a Surat court. The case was filed by a Gujarat politician, who alleged that Rahul Gandhi had defamed him during an election rally in 2019.

In the rally, Rahul Gandhi made certain remarks against the politician, which he claimed were false and defamatory. The court found Rahul Gandhi guilty of the offense and sentenced him to two years of imprisonment. However, he was granted bail immediately after the conviction.

Now, He has decided to challenge his conviction in a higher court. He will appeal against the decision in the Surat court and argue that his comments were made in good faith and the public interest.

Some have suggested that the case may impact his political career, while others believe that it may be a test of the Indian judiciary’s independence and impartiality.

Regardless of the outcome, the appeal is likely to generate significant media coverage and public debate in the coming weeks.
