On Monday, Elon Musk announced Twitter polls, stating that starting from April 15, only verified Twitter accounts will be able to cast their votes. This move is believed to address the issue of advanced AI bot swarms on the platform, which has been a growing concern for many users.

Moreover, Musk also revealed that only verified accounts will be included in Twitter For You recommendations, which is a feature that displays a stream of tweets from accounts on the platform. This means that unverified accounts will no longer be featured in this section, and only verified accounts will be promoted to a wider audience.

It is worth noting that last year, Musk stated that Twitter would restrict voting on policy-related polls to paying Twitter Blue subscribers. However, this latest announcement seems to be a broader effort to combat the issue of fake accounts and bots on the platform.

The move towards account verification for voting and recommendations is likely to have a significant impact on the way Twitter users engage with the platform. This may lead to an increase in the number of verified accounts, as users seek to maintain their influence and visibility on the platform.

Overall, this move by Elon Musk and Twitter represents a significant effort to address some of the key issues facing the platform. It is yet to be seen how this will affect Twitter’s user base and engagement, but it is clear that the company is taking steps to improve the overall quality of the platform and address concerns about fake accounts and bots.
