Former President Jimmy Carter has announced that he will soon start receiving home hospice care after being diagnosed with advanced-stage pancreatic cancer earlier this year. Carter, 95, released a statement on Sunday saying that he and his family had chose home hospice care after his latest medical evaluation. “I have had a wonderful life and I’m enjoying it,” Carter said in the statement. “I am at ease with my decisions and I have explained them to the doctors.”

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive and difficult to treat forms of cancer. It is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States. In Carter’s case, the cancer has already spread from his pancreas to other parts of his body. Hospice care is designed to provide comfort and support to patients and their families in the last stages of an incurable illness. It focuses on providing pain and symptom relief, support, and spiritual and emotional care while also providing an end-of-life experience that is dignified and comfortable. It is typically done in a home setting, although it can also be provided in a hospice facility. Carter has been receiving treatment for his cancer since his diagnosis. He has also continued to be actively engaged in his humanitarian work and is still regularly attending church.

The Carter family thanked friends and family for their prayers and support in their statement. They also asked for continued privacy during this difficult time. Jimmy Carter was the 39th President of the United States, serving from 1977 to 1981. Since leaving office, he has remained active in public life and is widely respected for his work as an international statesman and humanitarian. He has received numerous honors and awards over the years, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.

The Carter family’s announcement of his home hospice care has been met with an outpouring of support from across the political spectrum. A steady stream of well-wishers has been visiting his hometown of Plains, Georgia, to pay their respects. Jimmy Carter’s legacy will live on through his commitment to public service and his dedication to advancing global peace and humanitarianism. As he begins home hospice care, we wish him and his family peace and comfort.
