Olympic medalist Bajrang Punia criticized the Central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for inaugurating the new Parliament building while democracy is allegedly being undermined. Punia demanded the release of the detained individuals and confirmed the scheduled Mahapanchayat.

To prepare for the wrestlers’ protest against alleged sexual harassment by Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Singh, Khap panchayat leaders and farmers joined in, prompting heightened security near Singhu border, ITO road, and Tikri border areas by the Delhi Police. Thorough vehicle checks were conducted at the national capital’s entry points.

Delhi Police erected barricades as the wrestlers held a “Mahila Samman Mahapanchayat” before their planned march.

DCP East Delhi, Amrutha Gugulot, ensured readiness for such situations, deploying ample personnel to prevent a recurrence of prolonged border closures during the farmers’ protests and seeking to persuade the protesters to disperse.

Dependra Pathak, Special CP, Law & Order, Delhi Police, reported the deployment of 8,000-10,000 personnel to ensure a smooth inauguration ceremony for the new Parliament building.
