Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in Hyderabad to seek support against the Centre’s ordinance on control of services in Delhi. Accompanied by Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and other AAP leaders, Kejriwal is on a nationwide tour to meet political leaders and garner their support in Rajya Sabha to defeat the Bill. The ordinance nullifies a Supreme Court order regarding service matters in the national capital.

During his visit, Kejriwal also met with Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar, who assured his party’s support. Kejriwal stated that if the BJP fails to pass the Bill in Rajya Sabha, it will be a significant development for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Kejriwal has been advocating against the ordinance, accusing the Centre of encroaching upon the rights of Delhi’s residents. He met with Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata earlier, seeking their support against the ordinance.

The ordinance aims to amend the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi Act, 1991 and circumvents a Supreme Court judgment in the Centre vs. Delhi case. Kejriwal is actively engaging with various political leaders in his effort to prevent the ordinance from passing in Rajya Sabha.
